Congratulations to Tejara Center board member, Mr. Fouad Ashkar on being named a 2015 Heritage Hall of Fame Honoree! An induction ceremony will take place on November 19, 2015 at the International Institute Foundation 32nd Annual Awards Banquet inside Cobo Center, Detroit.
The purpose of the Heritage Hall of Fame Award is to recognize exceptional leaders from various ethnic backgrounds who have made outstanding contributions to the American way of life, who have demonstrated their commitment to multiculturalism, and who have generously supported ethnic and cultural traditions. The past honorees are proudly displayed at the Hall of Fame Gallery located near the entrance to the People Mover Station, inside Cobo Center convention hall, in Downtown Detroit.
Mr. Ashkar is the Manager of Economic Development and Ethnic Marketing for DTE Energy. His responsibilities include developing and creating strategic relationships with ethnic business organizations, business leaders and customers in various ethnic communities. He has more than 35 years of progressive general management and international business experience and a consistent track record of successfully introducing sophisticated systems and programs into work environments, building positive customer relationships, establishing dynamic sales and marketing strategies, introducing new products, improving productivity and creating growth.
During his career, Mr. Ashkar worked extensively in the Middle East. He was born in Lebanon and arrived in Michigan in 1971 to attend college at Western Michigan University where he earned an undergraduate degree in Industrial/Mechanical Engineering. Later he earned an MBA from Davenport University in Detroit.
Mr. Ashkar is very active in several community-based and business organizations and including the American Arab Chamber of Commerce and Tejara global Business Development Center.
